Thank you to everyone who got involved in our 'Before I grow up' competition.
You've been helping the children to experience new (but old school) ways to play!
We are pleased to announce that we are opening a new PLAYtarium Out of School Club at Sacred Heart Primary School in Luton!
We will be taking over from the school's previous Care Club, but don't worry! The well loved staff their have joined our team so your children will be cared for by familiar faces!
We will be based in this beautiful hut! With immediate outdoor access with a bike shed and a play shed!! We are so excited to be expanding to this lovely school!
IT'S COMPETITION TIME!!
What are your favourite memories from your childhood?? Maybe climbing trees, rolling down hills, rope swings, ‘run outs’…
In this electronic age, children do not play in the same way their parents did. We’ve found that lots of kids haven’t had the chance to do things that we loved to do when we were young, and we want to change that!
Share with us your favourite games, funniest & fondest memories and anything that you think kids would love to do!
For every idea you post here or tag us in, you will get 1 entry into our £50 prize draw!! If you share this post you'll get an additional entry.
The £50 voucher can be used towards PLAYtarium Childcare, or a shop voucher!
So rack your brains and get posting now!
Today the children will be stranded on a desert island!! They will have to follow clues, complete tasks and answer riddles to work out where in the world they are, and how to escape!!
Lots of parents have been asking us where we got our Minecraft papercrafts from, so here are the details of the main websites we used!
However, please remember that these sites are not associated with Playtarium! These sites have comment sections which may not be moderated, and we can not guarantee that content posted on these sites will be suitable for children.
There are sections on this site for characters, mobs, blocks etc.
This is the site with the Giant Steve, as well as the (very difficult) diamond pickaxe.
If you want a specific template we used, feel free to email us, or post a request on our facebook page and we’ll get back to you!
Minecraft! We’re sure most parents have heard of this game, because kids seem to be obsessed with it! We know that they would probably spend all day playing on the game if they could, so we set out to see if we could have a go at playing real life Minecraft! We found lots of papercrafts online, and the kids spent the whole day (some spent the whole week!) making their own Steves, creepers, houses and loads of other things from the game. If you want to try and do something similar at home, it’s really easy to do. We’ll be posting another blog post with links to some of the ones we used. Or in the meantime you can just google ‘Minecraft Papercrafts’, download the templates and get sticking!
After the success of last year’s trip to see the Lion King, we’ve decided to make another trip to the theatre this summer. On the 7th of August, PLAYtarium will be going to see Wicked! Like last year’s trip, the cost has been covered by funding from the Big Lottery Fund. Unfortunately, we can only take 50 children with us, so spaces are very limited! The children will also be able to take part in a drama workshop led by two professional actors!! More information is available on the holiday page.
